Sharp disaster resilience technology showcase
Overview
At CEATEC 2026, Sharp Corporation introduced several technologies focused on disaster resilience and social infrastructure. A primary highlight is the ‘Triple Free Laundry’ system, a wastewater-recycling technology designed for environments lacking standard water or drainage, such as disaster shelters. The system uses a three-stage filtration process and UV sterilization to allow water to be reused for up to 100 cycles. This innovation received the CEATEC AWARD 2026 Excellence Award, and the Japan Self-Defense Forces have selected it for demonstration testing. Sharp intends to commercialize the laundry system in the latter half of fiscal year 2026.
In addition to water recycling, Sharp showcased an ‘Instant 5G Network’—a portable, compact system for rapid deployment of high-speed connectivity in remote or disaster-stricken areas. Other presented technologies include satellite communication terminals for stable connectivity on moving platforms, IoT-based disaster prevention solutions, and water leak detection systems.
