London Ghana Party in the Park halted after crush and fire injure dozens
A small fire broke out near the entrance of the Ghana Party in the Park (also known as ShattaFest UK) at Copthall Playing Fields in Barnet, London. Police closed the gates temporarily; when they reopened a crowd surged, causing a crush at the entrance.
Metropolitan Police and emergency services treated 23 people, nine were assessed by the London Ambulance Service and three were taken to hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries. The event was declared a "major incident" and organisers temporarily paused the festival, later confirming its cancellation for public‑safety reasons. Rumours of a stabbing were denied by police. Organisers issued statements urging the public to stay away while the situation was managed.
