Overview

On 1 August 2026 a small fire broke out at the entrance of the Ghana Party in the Park (ShattaFest UK) in Barnet, London. Police closed the gates, and when they reopened a surge of attendees caused a crush that injured 23 people, three of whom were taken to hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries. The event was declared a major incident, the festival was temporarily paused and then cancelled for public‑safety reasons.

A follow‑up report on 5 August confirmed the same sequence of events and added that no deaths occurred. Organisers and the promoter Alordia denied rumours of a stabbing and refuted claims that tickets had been oversold, stating the venue never exceeded its legally approved capacity of 10,000 attendees.
