Shawn Langdon secures career-best qualifying run at Texas Motorplex

NHRA FallNationals Top Fuel drag racing Shawn Langdon Texas Motorplex Countdown to the Championship

Shawn Langdon, the Top Fuel points leader for Kalitta Motorsports, secured the provisional No. 1 qualifying spot at the Texas Motorplex during the NHRA FallNationals. His run of 3.648 seconds at 340.39 mph was the quickest of his career and the fastest Top Fuel run recorded during the NHRA’s 75th anniversary season. By winning the ‘Battle for the Saddle’ during the JEGS Friday Night Live session, Langdon earned a $15,000 bonus.

Other provisional No. 1 qualifiers include Jack Beckman in Funny Car, Greg Stanfield in Pro Stock, and Gaige Herrera in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Due to weather conditions, the Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories will conduct three qualifying sessions on Saturday.

Langdon enters the weekend as a dominant force in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, holding a 116-point lead over teammate Doug Kalitta. He currently holds a 16-round winning streak and is seeking his fifth consecutive race victory.
