Shawn Levy moves television production from Netflix to Disney

Director and producer Shawn Levy and his production company, 21 Laps Entertainment, have signed a multi-year overall television production deal with Disney’s 20th Television. The agreement is set to begin in October 2027, following the expiration of Levy’s current arrangement with Netflix.

Levy, widely recognized for his work on the Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’, will transition his television development to Disney. Despite the move, he will maintain a relationship with Netflix to continue collaborating on projects within the ‘Stranger Things’ universe.

The deal follows Levy’s recent success directing major films for Disney, including ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and the upcoming ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ starring Ryan Gosling. His new partnership with Disney is expected to include the development of new series across the company’s various streaming platforms and brands.
