Shein acquires US sustainable retailer Everlane in $100 million deal

Chinese fast‑fashion giant Shein has agreed to buy US clothing retailer Everlane for an estimated $100 million. Everlane CEO Alfred Chang said the transaction will allow the brand to remain independent, keep its current sustainability commitments, and retain the existing leadership team. He added that the deal will provide the resources needed for product development, innovation and staff, while relieving Everlane of roughly $90 million in debt.

Shein, founded in China in 2012 and now headquartered in Singapore, views the acquisition as a way to broaden its impact without compromising Everlane’s “radical transparency” ethos. Analysts value the purchase at about $100 million, noting that the deal could improve Everlane’s financial stability and give Shein a more sustainable brand image.
