Shen Po-yang launches Taipei mayoral campaign motorcade

Democratic Progressive Party Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang launched his first ‘Taipei Great Ocean Current’ campaign motorcade event, which featured over 2,000 scooters and drew thousands of supporters. The event concluded at the Dalongdong Baosheng Temple, where Shen presented policy proposals based on AI analysis of citizen grievances.

During a live stream of the event, supporters expressed concern over Shen’s physical appearance, noting a visible lump near his throat and significant weight loss of 10 kilograms over three months. Campaign manager Wu Ssu-yao stated that medical examinations have been arranged and the team is adjusting his schedule to ensure adequate rest. Medical professionals noted that the visible protrusion appeared superficial and could be related to inflammation or muscle tension from exhaustion.

While the campaign event saw large crowds, some supporters set off firecrackers in the streets, prompting police to intervene for safety. Political commentators have characterized the large-scale motorcade as a significant mobilization of political resources.
