Shenzhen issues 1 billion yuan in offshore RMB bonds in Macao
The Shenzhen Municipal People's Government has successfully issued 1 billion yuan in offshore RMB local government bonds in Macao. This marks the second year Shenzhen has issued such bonds in Macao and represents the first time the city has issued Greater Bay Area-themed sustainable development bonds in the region.
The three-year bonds were issued to professional investors at an interest rate of 1.41%. The proceeds are earmarked for projects related to water governance and medical health. The issuance received pre-stage certification from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) and was oversubscribed.
The Monetary Authority of Macao noted that this issuance deepens financial cooperation between Shenzhen and Macao within the context of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area integration. It also supports the development of green and sustainable finance markets in the region.
