Sheryl Crow announces new album and Disney ‘Cars’ series collaboration

Musician Sheryl Crow is expanding her involvement with the ‘Cars’ franchise. At the D23 fan event in Anaheim, Crow performed the title song ‘Built to Last’ for the upcoming Disney Jr. animated series ‘Cars: Lightning Racers’. Scheduled for a 2027 release on Disney Jr. and Disney+, the series will feature eleven new songs written by Crow. The project is a collaboration between Disney Television Animation and Pixar, featuring returning voice actors such as Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy.

Separately, Crow is preparing to release her twelfth studio album, ‘Pick You Up’, on October 9. The album is preceded by the single ‘Freedom Bus’, a collaboration with singer-songwriter Jesse Welles. Produced alongside longtime collaborator Jeff Trott, the song addresses themes of civil rights, memory, and the ongoing struggle for equality. The upcoming seven-track album will feature songs written by Crow and Trott.
