Shift Up faces fan backlash over AI-generated Stellar Blade video

Korean game developer Shift Up released a K‑pop style music video titled “Wanna be in LOVE” to promote its upcoming action title Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. The video, which features the game’s protagonist Eve, was created entirely with generative artificial intelligence and was flagged by YouTube as AI‑altered content.

Fans reacted negatively, calling the visuals “AI slop” and noting uncanny facial expressions and an artificial behind‑the‑scenes segment. Comments on YouTube mocked the video’s quality and questioned the marketing approach. Shift Up’s CEO Hyung‑tae Kim defended the use of AI, saying it is essential to compete with larger Chinese studios and that AI will augment rather than replace workers. The release date for Stellar Blade: Blood Rain remains uncertain, with expectations that it will not launch before 2027.
