Shimon Yehuda Hayut announces Safe Love dating app to prevent fraud
Shimon Yehuda Hayut, widely known as ‘The Tinder Swindler’ following the 2022 Netflix documentary, has announced the development of Safe Love, a dating application designed to prevent romantic fraud and fake profiles.
The platform intends to implement several security features, including mandatory official government ID verification paired with a registration selfie. The app will use biometric comparison to ensure profile photos match the user's identity, automatically rejecting accounts if visual discrepancies exceed 15%. Additionally, the app plans to include an SOS emergency button for in-person dates that automatically records audio and video to share in dangerous situations.
Hayut, who has a criminal history involving fraud, theft, and forgery in Israel and Finland, claims his background provides him with the necessary insights to design a secure platform. The project is reportedly in the final stages of the regulatory process and could launch in the coming weeks. However, the initiative has faced significant backlash from the tech industry; the association ODDA has requested that Apple and Google block the distribution of the app on their respective stores.
