Shinhan and KB Kookmin Banks launch flood relief in Geoje
Major South Korean financial institutions, including Shinhan Bank and KB Kookmin Bank, have launched relief efforts to assist residents in the Geoje and Tongyeong regions following heavy rainfall and flooding.
Shinhan Bank deployed approximately 100 employees to volunteer for cleanup activities in Geoje, specifically targeting areas like the Suwol Hillstate apartment complex where underground parking lots were submerged. In addition to physical labor, Shinhan Financial Group has provided a total of 700 million won in relief funds. The bank is also offering financial aid, including up to 50 million won in emergency living stability funds for individuals and up to 500 million won in operating funds for business owners.
KB Kookmin Bank has also mobilized staff for recovery work, with approximately 70 employees assisting in debris removal and facility maintenance. KB Financial Group contributed 500 million won to the Gyeongnam region. KB Kookmin Bank's financial support includes up to 20 million won for individual emergency living stability and up to 500 million won in operating funds for businesses, alongside insurance and credit card payment deferrals through its affiliates.
