Shinhan Card begins development of autonomous AI engine for financial products
Shinhan Card has commenced the development of a next-generation AI engine designed to recommend optimal financial products and support autonomous decision-making in real time. The company was selected for the ‘2026 Public-Private Joint Technology Commercialization R&D’ project hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The initiative aims to address current limitations in generative AI, such as inconsistent answers or the omission of complex conditions caused by probabilistic decision-making. By structuring complex conditions within services, policies, and regulations, the new AI infrastructure will allow for real-time updates to product recommendations even when internal policies or financial regulations change.
For example, the system will be able to systematically analyze complex relationships between monthly spending, usage locations, limits, and exception conditions for credit card products. Shinhan Card plans to first apply this technology to financial product recommendations before expanding its use to risk management, marketing, and customer consultation. The development and verification process will be conducted in collaboration with the AI infrastructure firm Connectionary.
