Shoaib Akhtar expected to take key role in Pakistan Cricket Board
Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is expected to take on a significant role within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a meeting with Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad. This potential appointment comes as the PCB seeks to overhaul its cricket system after a difficult Test tour of England.
Sources indicate that the relationship between Akhtar and Naqvi improved following Naqvi’s support during the recent passing of Akhtar’s elder brother. During their meeting, Akhtar reportedly shared his own ideas and conditions for advancing Pakistan cricket.
In addition to considering Akhtar for a major posting, the PCB is planning to recruit foreign coaches and consultants for its national teams. This follows the departures of senior batting and fielding coaches, as well as the removal of bowling coach Umar Gul, as the board aims to improve results across its men’s, women’s, and junior squads.
