Shoaib Akhtar PCB appointment speculation

Overview

Reports initially suggested that former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was expected to take on a significant role within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a meeting with Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad. This potential appointment was viewed as part of a broader effort by the PCB to overhaul its cricket system and recruit new coaches and consultants following recent poor performances.

However, Akhtar later denied these rumors while speaking from Houston. He dismissed the reports as “speculative and fake,” specifically addressing rumors that he would become the chief selector. Akhtar stated he has no interest in joining the board’s administration, citing personal convictions and advice from his late mother to avoid both Pakistan politics and the PCB.
