Shooting Stars secure 1-0 win over CS Sfaxien in CAF Confederation Cup

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan secured a 1-0 first-leg victory against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round. The decisive goal was scored in the 26th minute by Lucky Emmanuel, marking the club’s first continental goal in 27 years.

Following the win at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde approved the immediate release of two buses—a 32-seater and an 18-seater—to support the club’s logistical needs during its continental campaign. The state government expressed its commitment to helping the club restore its former glory.

Technical adviser Salisu Yusuf noted that while the team showed discipline and tactical organization, they missed several opportunities to extend their lead. He warned that the return leg in Tunisia will be a “real battle,” as CS Sfaxien will be under pressure to overturn the deficit.
