Siak Regent calls for fair oil revenue sharing amid projected 72% budget cut
During the 27th anniversary ceremony of Siak Regency, Regent Afni Zulkifli called for fiscal justice regarding the distribution of natural resource revenues. She emphasized that while the region remains loyal to the Republic of Indonesia, such loyalty should not result in silence regarding perceived injustices in wealth distribution.
The Regent highlighted a projected 72 percent reduction in the 2027 Oil and Gas Revenue Sharing (DBH Migas) fund for Siak. Additionally, she noted that the central government still holds approximately Rp460 billion in debt owed to the regency. Zulkifli stressed that the region's long-standing contribution through oil resources warrants fair and transparent revenue sharing to ensure the welfare of the local population.
