Sibiu County Council launches 46 million‑lei tender to modernize psychiatric hospital Pavilion C17
The Sibiu County Council has opened a public tender for the renovation and energy‑efficiency upgrade of the C17 – Physiotherapy – Child Psychiatry pavilion at the Dr Gheorghe Preda Psychiatric Hospital. The contract is estimated at 46.5 million lei (about €9 million) and is funded by non‑repayable EU funds from the 2021‑2027 Region Centre programme. Bids are accepted until 5 August 2026.
Work will include full thermal insulation with basalt wool, roof and terrace refurbishment, replacement of exterior and interior windows, installation of disabled‑access ramps, under‑floor heating, heat‑pump and heat‑recovery climate systems, and the addition of solar panels for electricity and hot‑water production. The upgrade aims to improve comfort for patients and staff, enhance accessibility, and cut electricity and gas consumption.
Council President Daniela Cîmpean highlighted that the project will bring significant energy savings and environmental benefits while modernising a 45‑year‑old facility of 7,700 sq m. The same EU funding is also being used for the refurbishment of four other buildings at the psychiatric and emergency hospitals in Sibiu, as well as the Transylvania Hall.
