SIC leads Portuguese television viewership in recent ratings

Portuguese television networks experienced shifts in viewership during late August and early September 2026. SIC maintained its position as the most-watched channel in August, securing a 13.4% share and an average of 278,500 viewers, narrowly leading TVI, which held a 12.9% share.

In terms of specific programming, SIC's 'Jornal da Noite' remained a dominant force, leading daily ratings on September 2 with a 7.6% rating and 16.9% share. Other notable performers included the game show 'Joker' on RTP1 and the fiction series 'Vitória' on SIC.

In the news sector, CNN Portugal maintained its leadership, holding a slight advantage over SIC Notícias. While SIC dominated prime-time slots, TVI led during the afternoon period (14:00 to 18:00), and RTP1 held the morning lead between 07:30 and 12:00.
