Sicilian municipalities see high demand for tax amnesty programs

Municipalities in Sicily are seeing significant participation in tax amnesty programs designed to help citizens and businesses regularize outstanding debts. In Catania, over 3,300 applications have been submitted for the facilitated settlement of municipal revenues, including Imu, Tari, and traffic fines. The program allows taxpayers to settle debts incurred between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2025, by waiving accumulated interest and penalties. Applications must be submitted via the Argo digital platform by November 8.

Similarly, the municipality of Mascali has received over 1,000 requests for its own tax settlement procedure. Mayor Salvo Gullotta noted that the high volume of applications demonstrates a strong demand for the opportunity to settle unpaid tax and patrimonial obligations. These measures aim to provide financial relief to taxpayers while enabling local administrations to recover uncollected credits and reduce legal disputes.
