Sicily allocates €16 million to youth digital‑safety projects and rent‑aid scheme

The Sicilian regional government has announced two new initiatives aimed at supporting young people. A €1 million fund will be used for projects that promote digital literacy and online safety for minors aged 6‑17, with €500,000 allocated to the central‑western provinces (Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Enna, Palermo, Trapani) and €500,000 to the eastern provinces (Catania, Messina, Ragusa, Siracuca). Eligible partnerships may include NGOs, universities and public entities and must provide education, risk‑prevention activities and outreach to families.

Separately, a draft law presented by M5S deputy Adorno proposes a €15 million rent‑support program for young tenants in Sicily, featuring progressive subsidies to make housing more affordable. The proposal aims to alleviate the cost burden on youth and stimulate stable accommodation.

Both measures reflect the region’s strategy to invest in the well‑being and future prospects of its younger residents.
