Sicily allocates €908k to school fish‑education grant and city video‑surveillance

The Regional Agriculture Department of Sicily announced a €500,000 call for projects aimed at promoting sustainable seafood consumption in kindergartens and primary schools. Up to €25,000 per project can be granted to support workshops, creative contests and collaborations with marine biologists and nutritionists. Assessor Luca Sammartino said, “We bet on food education to raise awareness among students and parents about the role of sustainable fishing and the value of Sicilian seafood.”

The municipality of Messina has launched a procurement for a video‑surveillance system covering the Panoramic Road and Via Consolare Pompea, funded by the Interior Ministry’s PO “Legalità” with a total cost of €408,862. Fourteen strategic points will be equipped with OCR licence‑plate readers and high‑performance “Speedome” devices to monitor traffic, hydro‑geological risks and pedestrian crossings, supporting police and municipal safety operations. The project, designed by architect Antonio La Monaca, includes installation of cameras, road works and network integration, with an accelerated timeline to ensure rapid implementation.
