Sicily approves €7 million green harvest aid for 1,188 wine producers

The Italian Agricultural Payments Agency (Agea) released the list of 1,188 Sicilian wine growers who will receive subsidies under the “green harvest” (Vendemmia verde) 2026 measure of the National Strategic Plan. The programme allocates roughly €7 million in flat-rate payments per hectare to producers who voluntarily remove unripe grape clusters before they mature, thereby setting the vineyard’s yield to zero for the season.

The intervention is intended to curb production excesses, stabilise wine market prices and protect farmers’ incomes while preserving the long‑term productive potential of the vineyards and the cultural landscape. Beneficiaries must complete the grape‑removal operations and confirm them to the competent provincial inspection authority by 14 June 2026 via certified email.
