Sicily approves new banking sector contract with 518‑euro salary boost
Trade union First Cisl Sicily secured unanimous approval of a new collective bargaining platform for bank employees across all nine provinces. The platform, presented by secretary‑general Fabio Sidoti, calls for a €518 monthly wage increase, enhanced work‑life balance measures, and safeguards for employment, continuous training, privacy and workplace safety. It also addresses the growing role of artificial intelligence in banking operations.
The agreement will now enter negotiations with the banking association Abi, aiming to replace the national credit contract that expired on 31 March. Sidoti highlighted that the accord seeks to restore purchasing power, curb commercial pressure on staff, and ensure occupational stability amid rapid digital transformation in the sector.
