Sicily Assessor Nuccia Albano meets co‑op leaders on social service reforms
Regional Assessor for Family, Social Policies and Labour, Nuccia Albano, met on June 4 with representatives of Confcooperative Federsolidarietà Sicilia and Legacoopsociali Sicilia. The discussion focused on systemic challenges in Sicily’s social‑service network, including the economic sustainability of services, recognition of social‑care workers’ professional dignity, and the need to modernise the regional regulatory framework.
Albano pledged to launch a structured, medium‑to‑long‑term plan aimed at moving beyond emergency measures, improving service standards, ensuring timely payments to providers, revising accreditation criteria, and strengthening early‑childhood provision such as nurseries. She also expressed readiness for ongoing technical dialogue with the sector to develop shared, sustainable solutions in line with the Third‑Sector Code.
