Sicily Beach Money Dump: 700,000 Euros Found After Jet Ski Accident
On 28 July a 5.5‑metre jet ski ran out of fuel near Kazuca beach, west of Marina di Ragusa in Sicily. The vessel, carrying three adult Maltese citizens and a 13‑year‑old child, allegedly threw several plastic bags filled with roughly €700,000 into the sea. Waves carried the cash onto the sand, where beachgoers collected it before Italian police intervened and seized most of the money. Authorities also seized the jet ski for forensic examination and detained the Maltese nationals for questioning, later releasing them on bail. Media reports identified the jet ski’s owner as Maltese citizen Oven Džons, who denies any link to the cash. The investigation continues to determine the origin and intended use of the money.
