In response to the diphtheria emergency in Palermo and declining regional vaccination rates, a proposal to implement vaccinations directly in schools is under consideration by the regional government. The Flc Cgil Sicilia union has expressed support for this task force, stating that school-based immunization simplifies the process for families and ensures higher adherence. The union has offered to collaborate with local health authorities (Asp) to organize vaccination days within educational facilities to protect the school community.
