Sicily health workers protest 118 emergency service changes and Favara medical guard closure

The Uil Fp union in Sicily warned that staff of the regional SEUS 118 emergency service are being treated as interchangeable, calling for an extension of their collective agreement and for any redeployment to ambulance duties to respect proper health‑worker qualifications and medical checks. The union also demanded the creation of a technical table with regional authorities and SEUS 118 management to establish clear, transparent rules for staffing and to protect workers’ professional dignity.

The CGIL of Agrigento protested the recent closure of the Favara medical guard, describing the loss of the service as unacceptable for the community. The health authority temporarily restored the guard but pledged to present the issue to the regional health department for a lasting solution. CGIL insists on continued oversight to ensure uninterrupted territorial health services for Favara’s residents.
