Italian towns host large saint festivals in June 2026

Assisi marked the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi’s death with a series of events on 1 June, including speeches by the mayor, the archbishop and representatives of the Parliament of International Legality. The programme featured theological reflections, cultural talks and a celebration of the saint’s enduring influence.

In Palermo, the concert “Branduardi sings Francesco” was held on 24 June at the Teatro di Verdura. Singer‑songwriter Angelo Branduardi performed eleven songs about Saint Francis, with proceeds earmarked for children at the Casa del Sorriso in Monreale and for scholarship funds supporting missions in Morocco, Kenya and Colombia.

The community of Brugarolo organised a three‑day feast for its patron Saint Francis of Paola from 5–7 June, combining masses, a traditional kitchen service and live music.

Messina launched the centenary celebrations for Saint Annibale Maria di Francia on 1 June with a concert, a solemn Eucharist presided over by Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco and a floral tribute in the city square.

Castelfranco Piandiscò held its 13th “San Filippo Neri” evening on 30 May, gathering about 400 residents for a communal dinner under the patron saint’s statue.

A Novena in honor of Saint Francis of Paola continued on 30 May, featuring family‐focused prayers, the renewal of marriage vows and an emphasis on the Trinitarian model of love.
