Sicily hosts religious commemorations honoring Madonna miracles

In Sciacca, the "Segni di devozione" exhibition opened at the Carlino photographic studio to mark the 400th anniversary of the 1626 Miracle of the Madonna del Soccorso. The show blends photography, painting, ceramics and poetry, featuring works by Francesco Carlino, Simona Maniscalco, Ambra Favetta, Davide La Rosa, Vito Maurici and poet Vincenzo Licata, and highlights contemporary devotion to the city's patron saint.

In Siracusa, a monthly Marian vigil and pilgrimage took place on 28‑29 July 2026, moving from the Casa del Pianto to the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime. The events, led by parish priest Francesco Mangiafico, form part of the preparations for the 73rd anniversary of the 1953 Lacrimazione of the Madonna of Siracusa. The vigil included a prayer service, a pilgrimage route covering historic stopping points, and a televised Mass.

Both activities underscore Sicily’s ongoing cultural and spiritual ties to historic Marian miracles.
