Sicily Madonna del Soccorso anniversary celebrations

In late July 2026, Sciacca inaugurated the "Segni di devozione" exhibition at the Carlino photographic studio, showcasing photography, painting, ceramics and poetry to mark the 400th anniversary of the 1626 Madonna del Soccorso miracle. The exhibition highlighted contemporary devotion to the city’s patron saint.

A few days later, Sciacca announced a month‑long program of events scheduled for 1 – 16 August. The calendar, presented by the archpriest, mayor and tourism officials, combined religious rites, artistic exhibitions, music, theatre and local traditions, including an opening art show, a new organ donation, walking tours, performances on 15 August, fireworks and a concluding solemn Mass with a theatrical‑musical piece.

Simultaneously, in Siracusa, a Marian vigil and pilgrimage were held on 28‑29 July as part of preparations for the 73rd anniversary of the 1953 Lacrimazione of the Madonna delle Lacrime, underscoring Sicily’s broader engagement with historic Marian miracles.
