Sicily launches major renovation projects for public spaces

In Sciacca, the Democrazia Cristiana party announced that work will begin on the long‑delayed renewal of Piazza Don Luigi Sturzo. The project, funded through the 2024 Stability Law after a request to MP Carmelo Pace, is presented as a key achievement for the town, while the party criticised the current administration for failing to allocate municipal funds earlier.

In San Cataldo, the municipal council has started a €600,000 overhaul of the Valentino Mazzola stadium. The works, carried out by Penta Costruzioni, replace the 15‑year‑old synthetic turf, refurbish changing rooms, fences and lighting, and are expected to finish by late 2026 or early 2027. The upgrade follows earlier PNRR‑funded lighting improvements and aims to provide a modern, safe venue for local sport.

Both projects illustrate ongoing public‑investment efforts in Sicily to improve civic infrastructure despite delays and political debate.
