Sicily opens new basketball courts in Licodia Eubea and Melito Porto Salvo

Licodia Eubea inaugurated a new multipurpose basketball and volleyball court next to the G. Verga school, funded by the PO FESR Sicilia 2021‑2027 programme under the regional priority “A more inclusive Sicily”. The ceremony was part of the Festa dello Sport, included awards for local athletes and demonstration games by ASD Bidibasket Vizzini, and involved municipal technical staff and the construction firm SEP Costruzioni.

In Melito Porto Salvo, a new basketball playground was opened on 3 August, promoted by the municipal administration and built with the participation of the local youth group Kleos. The event featured Italian national champion Simone Surfaro, who praised the mayor’s support and highlighted the site’s historic role in the town’s basketball tradition.
