Sicily parliament approves motion to overhaul SRD01 agricultural grant
The Sicilian Regional Assembly adopted a motion urging the regional government to revise the SRD01 agricultural grant program. The proposal calls for lowering the minimum investment threshold, easing the “economic solidity” criteria, and giving greater priority to young farmers and interior territories.
The motion was passed by secret ballot, with 25 deputies voting in favour, 13 against and one abstention. Critics said the current €250,000 threshold excludes about 80 % of Sicilian farms, arguing that the grant should align with the EU Rural Development Programme’s guidelines. The approved resolution commits the government to an urgent revision of the related funding decree (DDG).
