Sicily political landscape shifts ahead of regional elections

Political shifts are emerging in Sicily ahead of the upcoming regional elections. Filippo Iannelli, president of the civic movement ‘Insieme per il Territorio’, has announced his candidacy for the Sicilian Parliament as part of the ‘Sud Chiama Nord’ political force led by Cateno De Luca. The alliance is described as a programmatic convergence aimed at economic and social revitalization in the Messina province and across Sicily.

Simultaneously, Gaetano Galvagno, President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, has suggested the possibility of expanding the center-right coalition to include De Luca and his movement. Galvagno noted that the center-right could strengthen its position by incorporating figures capable of gathering local consensus, stating that the coalition's victory could depend on its ability to broaden its perimeter.
