Sicily power outages prompt complaints to E‑Distribuzione
Widespread electricity blackouts have hit several districts of Palermo and other areas of Sicily, causing heavy disruption for households, professionals and commercial enterprises. The local citizen group Comitato Addaura filed a formal complaint with the utility E‑Distribuzione demanding explanations, details of repairs, planned investments and assurance of stable service.
The business association Assoesercenti also issued a diffida to E‑Distribuzione, copying Sicily’s regional president Renato Schifani and the national minister for Enterprises and Made‑in‑Italy Adolfo Urso, and called for urgent institutional intervention. It highlighted repeated outages, voltage fluctuations and prolonged blackouts that have damaged equipment, spoiled goods and jeopardised daily revenues, especially during the current heat wave that has raised electricity demand.
