Sicily receives nearly 18 million euros for hydrogeological stability

The Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has approved nearly 18 million euros to fund interventions aimed at combating hydrogeological instability in Sicily. Requested by the regional government, the funds will support projects in several municipalities, including Acireale, Naso, Piraino, Savoca, Scaletta Zanclea, Burgio, Favara, Porto Empedocle, Racalmuto, and Alimena.

Regional Territory Assessor Giusi Savarino stated that these resources are fundamental for strengthening territory security policies. The projects are designed to secure residential centers, rocky cliffs, slopes, and areas highly exposed to landslides and floods, serving as a concrete step toward risk prevention related to climate change.
