Sicily Regional Government Approves New Contracts for Public Employees and Forest Corps

On Wednesday the Sicilian regional council approved directives to renew the collective labour contract for regional employees for the 2025‑2027 period, covering both managerial and non‑managerial staff. In a separate measure the council integrated the contract‑renewal act for the regional Forest Corps. President Renato Schifani said the step was an “necessary commitment to respond promptly to workers’ needs” and highlighted the Corps’ “precious role in protecting the territory and citizens’ safety”. Environment assessor Giusi Savarino added that the document will be sent to the regional labour authority (Aran) to start the formal renewal process, describing it as an “important step that provides concrete answers to a sector that plays a fundamental role in environmental heritage, fire prevention, territorial control and citizen safety”. The approvals mark the third collective contract for regional staff after years of stalled negotiations.
