Sicily regional government expands vocational training slots to 300

The Sicilian regional administration, led by President Renato Schifani and Education Minister Girolamo Turano, raised the number of three‑year IEFP (Education and Professional Training) programmes from 260 to 300 for the 2026‑2029 cycle. The increase addresses a demand gap identified by the Association of Training Organisations (ASS O FOR), which had warned that the original allocation would not meet the needs of students required to complete compulsory schooling.

The additional slots are intended to guarantee continuous access to vocational qualifications for minors and their families, align programme start dates with the September school year, and provide stability for training providers across the region.
