Sicily to distribute 202 defibrillators to small towns

The Sicily Region is launching a distribution plan to provide 202 semi-automatic defibrillators to municipalities with populations of up to 5,000 inhabitants. This initiative aims to increase survival rates for cardiac arrest, an emergency where rapid intervention is critical. The first deliveries are scheduled to begin by September, coordinated through the four 118 emergency operation centers.

In related developments regarding regional emergency services, Riccardo Castro has been reconfirmed as the head of Seus 118, the regional company responsible for ambulance rescue services across Sicily. Castro expressed that his reappointment represents a responsibility toward the thousands of professionals operating within the emergency system. The company's board of directors has also seen new appointments, including Giuseppe Gennuso and Francesca Draià.
