Sicily's Elisa Ingala unveils €150 million plan to fight depopulation

Regional assessor for local autonomies Elisa Ingala said the urban functional areas (FUA) and internal areas are key tools to counter the depopulation of Sicily's most fragile territories. She highlighted that in the province of Caltanissetta there are two FUA and one internal area, which could attract about €150 million in funding for development projects.

Ingala met with a delegation of mayors from Caltanissetta to discuss local needs and pledged that the Schifani regional government will provide strong institutional support. She also announced that similar consultations will be repeated in the other provinces of the island to accelerate administrative processes and implement the territorial strategies.
