Sicily’s Serradifalco reenactment and Calabria’s Serra San Bruno summer festival showcase local heritage
On 5 August, Serradifalco in Sicily will hold a historic reenactment titled “Ad Sancti Leonardi Honorem”. Organized by the cultural association “Serra del Falco” with municipal support, the event will feature the solemn entry of Saint Leonard’s relics into the Ducate, period costumes, carriages, musicians, jugglers and participants from nearby towns.
Starting 2 August, the “Estate del Brigante” in Serra San Bruno, Calabria will run a month‑long program of talks, performances and workshops. It opens with writer Gioacchino Criaco presenting his novel “Dove canta il cuculo”. The schedule includes children’s storytelling, a discussion on colonialism honoring historian Francesco Tassone, and concerts by local folk and rock groups.
