Sidamon Giant Pumpkin Fair awarded to farmer Rubén Mendi

Rubén Mendi, a farmer from Valtierra, Navarra, won the fifth edition of the Giant Pumpkin Fair in Sidamon with an 807 kg pumpkin. This marks a repeat victory for Mendi, who also won the competition last year with a 959.5 kg specimen.

Other podium finishers included Sidamon Mayor Sergi Balcells, who took second place with 458.5 kg, and Josep Maria González, known as Poti, who placed third with 320 kg. Balcells announced that he would donate his 400 euro second-place prize to a non-profit social organization.

Mendi has been cultivating giant pumpkins for sixteen years and holds several records, including a Spanish record of 1,187.5 kg set alongside his wife, Anabel Vicente. The event in Sidamon, located in the Pla d'Urgell region, has become a significant gathering for enthusiasts of giant cucurbits.
