Sidya Touré buried in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

Former Guinean Prime Minister Sidya Touré was buried on Thursday in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, at the Williamsville cemetery. Touré, who passed away in Paris on September 25, 2026, at the age of 81, was laid to rest in his country of birth following a decision by his family.

The funeral ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and Grand Chancellor Ally Coulibaly. Guinean political figures, including Cellou Dalein Diallo and representatives from the Union des forces républicaines (UFR), also traveled to Abidjan to pay their respects.

Touré held significant roles in both nations, having served as a high-level administrator and chief of staff for Alassane Ouattara in Côte d'Ivoire before returning to Guinea. In Guinea, he served as Prime Minister from 1996 to 1999 under President Lansana Conté and later led the UFR political party.
