Siemens appoints Rainer Brehm to lead new consolidated automation unit

Siemens is restructuring its automation business as part of its ‘ONE Tech Company’ strategy. Effective October 1, 2026, the company will consolidate its four existing automation divisions—Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control, and Process Automation—into a single unified unit named ‘Automation.’

Rainer Brehm has been appointed President of this new consolidated organization. Brehm, who currently serves as COO for the automation business and CTO of Digital Industries, will report to Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Digital Industries.

The reorganization aims to integrate automation, software, and artificial intelligence to drive higher innovation speeds and scalable customer solutions. The company intends to focus on advancing toward AI-supported autonomous production to increase industrial flexibility and productivity.
