Siemens appoints Rainer Brehm to lead new unified automation unit

Siemens AG has announced a restructuring of its automation business as part of its ‘ONE Tech Company’ strategy. Effective October 1, 2026, the company will consolidate its four existing automation business units—Customer Services, Factory Automation, Motion Control, and Process Automation—into a single unified organization named ‘Automation’.

Rainer Brehm has been appointed President of this new Automation unit. Brehm, who currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Digital Industries automation business and Chief Technology Officer, will report to Cedrik Neike, Member of the Managing Board and CEO of Digital Industries.

The reorganization aims to enhance industrial productivity and resilience by integrating automation with software and artificial intelligence. Brehm noted that the goal is to advance AI-enabled autonomous production to help customers remain competitive in a transforming industrial landscape.
