Siemens Energy announces €1 billion share buyback as stock slides

Siemens Energy launched a new share‑repurchase programme on 4 June, targeting up to €1 billion of stock to be bought back on Xetra and other European venues by the end of September. The buyback is meant to support the company’s equity‑based compensation and provide shares for future cancellations. The move comes as the share price fell more than 20 % from its April peak, closing at €155.70 on Friday.

In the same quarter the group reported record‑high order intake, up nearly 30 % to €17.7 billion, and a net profit of €835 million, with free cash flow rising 42 %. Analysts lifted their forecasts, with target prices ranging from €164 to €225 and a consensus of €195.08.

The broader German green‑energy sector also saw activity: Vulcan Energy secured €2.2 billion financing for its Lionheart lithium‑hydroxide project in Frankfurt, aiming to produce enough material for about 500 000 electric vehicles annually. Meanwhile, wind‑turbine maker Nordex posted a 64 % jump in Q1 EBITDA and a profit surge, driven by a strong order book and improving margins.
