Siemens Energy to Rebrand as Omterra, Cutting €300 Million License Fee
On 14 July 2026 the DAX‑listed Siemens Energy announced that it will adopt the new global brand name **Omterra**. The change will roll out over the next ~18 months, merging the Siemens Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy businesses under a single identity and ending the remaining ten‑year licence that allows use of the “Siemens” name.
The licence has required the group to pay about **1.2 % of revenue**, roughly **€300 million a year** (2024/25), to Siemens AG. By switching to Omterra the fee will disappear, improving margins earlier than the originally expected 2030 target. CEO Christian Bruch said the company is “strategically, operationally and financially well positioned” and that the timing aligns with strong cash‑flow, a solid market‑trusted position and ambitious growth plans.
Siemens Energy employs around **105,000 people in over 90 countries**, generated **€39.1 billion in revenue in 2025**, and aims for about **€4 billion profit** in the current fiscal year. Analysts (JPMorgan, Barclays) lifted their ratings, citing the rebrand as a margin‑boosting catalyst; the share price showed a modest uptick after the announcement but remained within its recent trading range.
The rebranding does not alter the company’s commercial strategy, product portfolio, or customer relationships; it simply creates an independent, internationally recognisable brand as the group continues its focus on grid technologies, gas turbines, renewable energy and hydrogen solutions.
