Siena bus routes altered for July Palio festivities

From 24 June to 4 July, urban bus lines S21, S54 and 637 in Siena will no longer serve Piazza Indipendenza. All services will terminate at Piazza Matteotti, with routes redirected via Strada di Pescaia, Via Sauro and Via Franci.

On the day of the Palio, Thursday 2 July, the terminus will shift to Piazza Gramsci from 13:00 until service ends. Piazza del Campo will be closed to traffic from 24 June to 3 July for equipment set‑up and removal. Line 590 will run detours: the Porta Tufi‑Logge del Papa service will use Strada dei Tufi, Cerchiaia, Valli and Porta Romana, while the Viale Toselli‑originating service (29 June‑2 July) will be rerouted via Via Aretina, Via Gigli, Porta Romana, the former psychiatric hospital site, Via Piccolomini, Cerchiaia and back to Strada dei Tufi‑Porta Tufi.
