Siena finalizes online pre‑registration and schedule for 2026 Palio horse race

Siena Palio horse pre‑registration regulated tests Tratta schedule municipal ordinance

An ordinance signed on 28 May 2026 sets out the procedures for the Palio di Siena on 2 July 2026. Horse owners must pre‑register online via the municipal portal from 30 May 2026, with entries due by 12:00 CET on 15 June 2026.

The pre‑inspection of the horses is scheduled for 22–24 June 2026, and regulated test sessions will be held on 27–28 June 2026 from 05:30 to 07:30. The presentation of the horses for the Tratta will take place on 29 June 2026 between 06:30 and 07:30. Vehicles transporting the horses may be up to six metres long within Piazza del Mercato, with longer vehicles permitted only on specific side streets.
